Woody Allen Autobiography APROPOS OF NOTHING Set For 7 April Release

The decades long gestating autobiography from Woody Allen is finally set for release. It was announced today that it will be released by Grand Central Publishing who have set a release date of 7 April – just a little over four weeks away. The book will be called Apropos Of Nothing. AP carried the story.

The book is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

According to Grand Central Publishing:

The book is a comprehensive account of his life, both personal and professional, and describes his work in films, theater, television, nightclubs, and print. Allen also writes of his relationships with family, friends, and the loves of his life.

No word yet if it covers Allen’s relationship with moose. We do know that the book is 400 pages long, thanks to its Amazon listing.

Apropos Of Nothing is currently set for release in the US, Canada, Italy, France, Germany and Spain. More countries will follow, and we will keep you updated as they are announced.

Allen has talked for many, many years about writing an autobiography. Certainly since the late 90s, Allen has wanted to get his story down. He reportedly almost signed a multi million dollar deal in 2003. Whatever work he did on in, he returned to working on it in 2017/2018 and Allen signed a book deal in March 2019.

This will be Allen’s fifth book, following four collections of comic writings – Getting Even (1971), Without Feathers (1975), Side Effects (1980) and Mere Anarchy (2007). It looks like Allen will share a publisher with his hero JD Salinger. He also shares Salinger’s preference for incredible bare book covers.

The back cover photo was taken by Allen’s life long friend Diane Keaton.

2020 is shaping up to be another busy year. Allen is expected to do publicity for the book. He is set to release his 49th film, Rifkin’s Festival, this year and rumoured to start production on another.

Pre-orders for Apropos Of Nothing are now up on Amazon.

  3. I always hoped Eric Lax would publish a “Part II” to his biography of Woody, but this is great news!!! Over last few years Woody has been wrongfully put through the ringer. Its good to see him fighting for his reputation and legacy!! Folks, the man cannot be stopped!!!! The truth will prevail!!

    GO WOODY!!!!

  4. I will open an exception and will order a book out of a bookstore. Mr Allen deserves it for all the magic and laughs he brought to my life. Alexandra Lobão
