The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has honoured Woody Allen at a special reception at the London Hotel in New York City. The HFPA, the body behind the Golden Globes, are also honouring Woody Allen by presenting him the Cecil B. DeMille Award. As previously announced, Diane Keaton will be accepting the award on his behalf.

He was joined by two Blue Jasmine co-stars – Sally Hawkins (who flew in for the occasion) and Bobby Cannavale. Coverage from the Golden Globes website covered several quotes made by Allen on the night.

On Cecil B DeMille‘s films.

I saw ‘The Ten Commandments‘ and I feel that I live up to at least two of them.

On working with John Turturro on the upcoming Fading Gigolo

John is a wonderful actor, a very good director and a terrific guy. I have seen the picture, and it is very pretty, he did a very good job in directing me. As for my character, I of course was brilliant, I made a major contribution to it!

On sequels (and the Bullets Over Broadway Musical)

I don’t even like the idea of doing a musical of Bullets Over Broadway, because I have done it already. I did the adaptation but other than that I am doing as little as possible and I leave it all to Susan (Stroman, director).

More at the Golden Globes website.

It is very unusual for Allen to attend any type of event in his honour. He does say he likes the people at HFPA, and they are bestowing him with their highest award.

The Golden Globe Awards take place on 12 January.
