Diane Keaton was the 2017 recipient of the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award. It was a big celebration of her entire career, and of course Allen was a big part of that. The ceremony was held in LA, and guests were surprised by the appearance of Woody Allen, who closed the night. Here’s the video of his bit.

Of course, Allen doesn’t do such things normally, but he will do it for Keaton. It reflects the 2014 Golden Globes, when Keaton accepted an award on Allen’s behalf. Allen, as he does when he makes these once-a-decade appearances, basically just told jokes. We particularly like the last joke, barely audible, as Keaton is about to speak (he knows what eBay is!).

Keaton, of course, is massively deserving of any awards coming her way. She helped change roles for women in American cinema, and never afraid to be herself, age with her roles and throw herself into things. Even without those 7 films she did with Allen, she would be one of the greats.

Anyway, it’s just great to see this friendship continue after so many decades.
