VOTW: Woody Allen On I’ve Got A Secret, 1967

I’ve Got A Secret was a long running US panel game show. Started in 1952, they had Woody Allen on as a guest in 1967. Allen at this time was still in his standup comic phase, but was writing for Broadway (Don’t Drink the Water is mentioned).

The game they play with Allen is trying to guess the a word, described by kids. As is typical of this era, Allen is a quick fire wit. This was at the height of his TV fame, when he would do lots of variety shows. It’s fascinating to think that this man would, 46 years later, release a film as dark and dramatic as ‘Blue Jasmine‘.
