The Daily Beast has a new article about the Woody Allen/Mia Farrow relationship. It is written by Robert Weide, director of Woody Allen: A Documentary and recently worked on the Woody Allen segment at the Golden Globes.

The piece is a response to several incidents from the last few months. Most recently it’s a number of tweets posted by Ronan and Mia Farrow during the Golden Globes. There was also an article in a recent Vanity Fair where the issue was brought to light again.

I didn’t know whether to post this. I know where I stand on the issue, but I don’t need to share that with anyone, or try to convince anyone the public importance of anyone’s private life.  I will say that my stance is extremely similar to the one in this article.

This article is extremely well written, and lays out everything quite comprehensively. Weide has put years of research into Allen’s life, and the quality of the journalism shines through … so it makes the cut.

I also think that it might be the only good thing to post on this site. If you come across this on a Woody Allen fansite, this lays it out better than I ever could. And who knows how long this website will last, but this happened and I might as well note it.

I won’t excerpt anything here, but certain points that I think are important if you never click through. The article spells out where the case ended up legally. It spells out the evidence and separates them from rumour. It looks at the people making allegations and their possible motives.

For those who have ever wondered about the case, or think they have an opinion, I suggest you read this. It is easy to get a provocative headline, or write a provocative tweet, but you can’t beat facts.

As a final note. We didn’t get one negative comment on our twitter, Facebook or the website about this issue. We are the biggest Allen website in the world (I’m guessing) and not one peep. People who seemed outraged managed to not be a few minutes later. Knee jerk reactions and blog posts by people who have no real interest or sympathy or understanding of the people involved. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from the last few months is that people with uninformed opinions will have another uninformed opinion soon enough. The stupid cannot hold it together long enough to do anything.

We will return to our regular programming tomorrow.
