HUSBANDS AND WIVES, MANHATTAN MURDER MYSTERY US Blu-Ray Announced

We haven’t been keeping up with Twilight Time’s US Blu-Ray releases. They announced they had the rights to Allen’s early films. But they have now announced two titles that have never been released on Blu-Ray before – 1992’s Husbands And Wives and 1993’s Manhattan Murder Mystery.

Both films came after Allen left Orion Pictures after a long stint. These films are the only two Allen made for Tri-Star Pictures, and their rights have always been uncertain. They come to Blu-Ray for the first time in any country.

Husbands And Wives will be released on 23rd January 2018. Manhattan Murder Mystery will be released on 20th February 2018. US region only, so far.

These new titles follows the just released Bananas on Blu-Ray, and the upcoming release of Alice, on 19th December 2017. This makes Allen’s first 22 films available on Blu-Ray. Most of his films in the last several years have come out as well, leaving a large gap of around 20 films unavailable. Digital rights are still a mess.

You can get more details at Twilight Time. They only release 3000 copies of any title, so be quick.

  1. Oh my!!! Much thanks to woodyallenpages.com for bringing this to our attention!!! This is tremendous news. Hopefully this bodes well for a continuous abundance of Woody’s films to be released on bluray in 2018. I love the great Bobby Short “I happen to like New York” opening at the beginning of Manhattan Murder Mystery. MMM has, in my opinion, one of Woody’s greatest writing moments in all of his films. The scene is when Larry is playing cards with Marcia Fox at the Cafe des Artistes. Larry, in a panic, reluctantly admits that Carol might be losing interest in their relationship because Ted is giving her the excitement she needs. A perceptive Marcia Fox says, “Well if you want to keep her you have to make some effort.” And Larry’s response, “Maybe you’re right. Maybe I should make a greater effort with Carol.” Boom!!! Next cut the two are in the car and they are on the case – together!!! Bottom line – relationships take effort. Continuous effort from bother people involved. It takes two to tango!!!

    GO WOODY!!!

  2. All Twilight titles are region free, so anyone anywhere can get them. A/V quality vary a tad, Hannah And Her Sisters was not as good as one had hoped, but most titles are good, if hardly of reference quality.
