Café Society, the new film written and directed by Woody Allen, is out right now – if you live in France. This week we also got our first details of release dates in three other countries – Australia, UK and Russia.
eOne Australia, Allen’s Australian distributor for many years, confirmed in a newsletter that the film will be released 1st September 2016.
The UK has also set the release for September, with an actual date still to come. Various outlets, including Jason Solomons, have published UK reviews, pointing to a September release. No distributor announced either.
Russian distributor Volga has picked up the film. It will be released in Russia on 21st July.
All this suggests that the Amazon deal in the US has not really effected Allen international release dates. We expect more countries to announce releases soon, in particular huge Woody Allen loving countries like Spain and Brazil.
Café Society is out now in France. It plays for the first time in the US at the Seattle International Film Festival next week, and will be platform released on 15th July.
