RIFKIN’S FESTIVAL to premiere at Hong Kong International Film Festival

Film festivals are in just as much trouble as the cinema industry right now, but some are still bravely moving ahead. One is the Hong Kong International Film Festival, which happens between 1st-12th April 2021. Amongst the line up is the new film from Woody Allen – Rifkin’s Festival.

The Hong Kong International Film Festival has been a mainstay of Woody Allen in the last decade. His first film to play the festival was 2011’s Midnight In Paris. Magic In The Moonlight and Café Society both opened the festival in previous years, and Irrational Man closed the festival in 2015. Allen’s previous film, A Rainy Day In New York, played the festival in 2019.

This year’s festival will be a hybrid of online and cinema screenings, and will feature over 190 films from 58 countries.

Rifkin’s Festival will premiere on 6th April at the (very beautiful) Hong Kong Cultural Centre, and it will serve as the Asian premiere. A second screening has already sold out.

Here’s the Hong Kong trailer:

In any event, it’s nice to see Rifkin’s festival continue to slowly roll out around the world. Hopefully it will play more film festivals in the coming year as well.
